How do I transfer my domain’s registration to 9ja Hoster or other Web Host? Is it required to transfer my domain’s registration to 9ja Hoster?

Note: We highly recommend pointing the name servers to us before initiating a registration transfer. Transfers can take 3-10 days to complete; during this time the name servers cannot be modified. If you point the name servers to us before starting a transfer, your domain will be pointed to us during the duration of the transfer and your site will show what is on 9ja Hoster’s servers.

Many people get things wrong, confused and not exactly Understood when it comes to Transfer issues.

There are three major kinds of transfer

1) Hosting Transfer (Most Common )
2) Domain Transfer
3) Both Domain and Hosting Transfer

1) HOSTING TRANSFER (Most Common)
With this type of transfer, your domain registration remains with your domain registrar while your hosting is transfered to Us; you will need to change your name server to our own name server at your domain registrar’s control panel for domain mangement, your hosting will expire exactly after the subscription period you chose with us; When your domain expire it is either you transfer it to us or you renew it with your registrar.

2) DOMAIN TRANSFER
With this type of transfer you are transferring only your domain to us, Your hosting (if you have one) still remains with your web Host, maybe you don’t even have hosting (you are using your domain for ‘domain-parking’ or other purposes that does not require Hosting). You will pay a new fee to us for domain transfer and our subscription start counting from the day of successful transfer

3) BOTH DOMAIN AND HOSTING TRANSFER
This means you are transferring the whole of your Domain and Hosting to Us. We will be your new Domain registrar and Web Host. the subscription starts counting right from the day of successful transfer, when the subscription expire you will renew hosting and domain with us.

WHY DO PEOPLE PREFER HOSTING TRANSFER ALONE ?
Domain Transfer is not instant anywhere unlike Hosting Transfer because your soon to be ex registrar has to aprove the transfer although it may be fast depending on the management of your Registrar. Some people might have just registered their Domain and will not want to go through the stress of transfering domain again or paying for domain transfer again so they will prefer to transfer only their Hosting and transfer domain later when it is about to expire.

NB: If you don’t transfer your domain to us at the time of Transferring your Hosting, you will pay Domain Registration fee when next you want to transfer it.

STEPS OF TRANSFERRING TO US (HOSTING ALONE)

1) Contact Your Domain Registrar to change the name server attached to your Domain name to our domain name (contact us for the specific one you should use) then order for our hosting.

STEPS OF TRANSFERRING TO US (DOMAIN ALONE)

1) Change the e-mail address attached to your domain in your Registrar’s Site to Domain@9jahoster.com . This email is the registrant email appearing in your who is, this can be changed to your personal e-mail after the transfer has been completed; This changes to our own email makes the transfer quicker as in we will be the one to answer all queries and acceptance from your soon to be ex Registrar.

2) Tell your Registrar to Unlock the Domain, remove domain privacy and give you the epp codes, security code, authorization code OR do it your self if you have the access to do so.

3) use or insert the epp code, transfer codes, authorisation code in the corresponding field of your transfering form on our website or send the Epp codes to Us if you are experiencing problem

4)The rest is left for your soon to be Ex Registrar to accept the transfer promptly when we make a request.
